On Friday Semester in Australia took us to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (the first and largest koala sanctuary) in Fig Tree Pocket, a suburb of Brisbane. It was very similar to Featherdale Wildlife Park except Lone Pine is bigger and there you can actually hold a koala. There was also a whole field area where you could pet and feed kangaroos, wallabies, and wallaroos (yes, that is a real thing). A few even had joeys in their pouches. I was surprised to find out how soft kangaroos are, even softer than the koala bears, and how gentle they were. Of course they are probably very different in the wild, but I have yet to visit the outback.
